Describe yourself in three words?

Adventurous, strong and determined.

3 tips for staying balanced?

  • 1. Don’t try to always be 100% in control, it's fun to let some things go.
  • 2. Say no as well as yes.
  • 3. Make time for sleep, it’s a magic ingredient for your health and wellbeing.

When do you feel best in yourself?

When I’m running. In a ideal worled I'd love to run in beautiful countryside along trails but it’s more likely to be a lap of Richmond Park in the rain.

What does female empowerment mean to you?

For me it is about ensuring women across the globe have a right to make their own decisions about how to lead their life.

What is the best race you’ve ever done?

The Race Across America by far. This was the ride of a lifetime with 250 cyclists, 1000 crew and 300 vehicles travelling coast to coast from California to Maryland. I cycled over 3000 miles, climbed 52,000m and travelled across 12 states.

What would you say to your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to fail, be afraid not to try.

Any tips for those looking to get into fitness?

Try out lots of different things till you find something that brings you joy and makes you excited to be doing it. Also work out with friends, it’s so much more fun.

Favourite workout?

1Rebel’s Reshape class, it’s an all-round workout in 45 minutes.

Life mantra?

Work hard and bite off more than you can chew.

Can you tell us about one woman that’s inspired you?

My inspiration comes from my two daughters. I want their world to be different to the one I grew up in with glass ceilings and expectations around the appropriate role women should play both in the family and in wider society. Hilary Clinton also rocks, she taught us that even in the face of such a galling defeat we must carry on fighting for what we think is right.

What’s been your proudest moment to date?

Watching my incredible daughter and how she has fought and is winning with her battle with anorexia.

What is your favourite Sweaty Betty product?

The all in one ski suit, I own three. They are so stylish, striking and original and I get so many lovely comments when I wear them.

How do you switch off?

A hot bath and a movie on the sofa with my family.

Green juice or cocktails?

Green juice.

What are you training for next?

I’m running 10 marathons in 10 days in April. This is part of my longer term goal of 50 marathons by 50, I am currently 47 and have only done 23. Best get out there!
