Behind The Scenes at our Summer Shoot

Behind the Scenes of Summer 2018

Our Spring/Summer 2018 collection was inspired by an amazing design trip to Barcelona, so for our summer shoot we couldn’t not go back to Spain. The architect Ricardo Bofill’s Walden 7 was a huge inspiration for the team, so when I saw photos of La Muralla Roja I knew we had to shoot there.

Rising from the rocky cliffs of Calpe in the Alicante region of Spain, La Muralla Roja – literally meaning the red wall in Spanish, is a complex of 50 apartments, built in 1973. With clear similarities to Walden 7, La Muralla Roja is an imposing, fortress-like building with a tangle of colorful corridors, open stairways, apartments and outdoor spaces. It’s looked after really well, and the amazing mixture of colours and idyllic rooftop pool made it the perfect choice to shoot our new collection.

For the shoot we relocated to Spain for three days for some much needed sun. I write this as it rains outside, but our aim this season is to get you in the mood to be active, so we relocated to the beach to shoot our high summer collection. This is full of those lightweight essential pieces you can wear wherever you are, whatever the weather.

We loved her as the face of our bum-sculpting campaign in January, so had to bring back Penny Lane. She’s a British girl who has an amazing strong and sculpted body. She works out like crazy and is so much fun, you don’t find many models doing cartwheels on the beach between shots. Plus, we had her running up and down the iconic stairs so many times and she did not complain once.

I absolutely loved seeing our new swimwear pieces come to life. We shot these by the pool on the roof of a high rise building at La Muralla Roja. We’ve designed the perfect capsule wardrobe, bringing your're favourite styles alongside some cool new pieces. I’m obsessed with the retro bikini, which was inspired by one we found in a vintage store in Barcelona.

We have worked with Julia Kennedy for five seasons now and she is a real Sweaty Betty. On our first shoot her daughter was a few weeks old and she just got on with it, which I thought was amazing. She is a real get-up-and-go girl, which means we have a lot of fun collaborating.

Get ready for the summer season and shop new arrivals.
