My yoga began about 7 years ago when a lovely friend encouraged me to try yoga. I took to it immediately although a complete novice at the time. My practice quickly grew from joining four friends in one of our living rooms, to becoming the keen yogi that I am now. I had some awesome teachers. At the time, I had just had my third child and was looking for a way to stay fit and strong that wasn’t too demanding on my body. Yoga was the perfect solution. It even helped me overcome a bad bought of depression, which prescriptions had failed to improve. I embarked on a journey of yoga, breathing properly and homeopathy, and have never looked back.
I met my husband through yoga. He is also a dedicated yogi and so combining our knowledge, love and ideas, we've just opened our own yoga studio in Tunbridge Wells, called the Freestyle Yoga Project. My work and family is my passion, I found my calling!

A regular competitor in high-performance sporting events such as triathlons, running and cycling, I am qualified UKA running coach whose highlights include representing GB at the World and European Duathlon Championships in 2006 and 2007. In my time, I’ve also competed in the U23 Rowing World Championships, run 9 marathons, many half-marathons and completed a number of half Ironman triathlons, as well as the Lakeland 50 Mile Trail Race. Despite my accomplishments, the last three years have been an extraordinarily tough time in regard to my health. Having five major abdominal surgeries in just three years forced me to re-evaluate my passion for fitness, stepping away from a performance focus, and towards the forms of exercise that bring me the most enjoyment and are able to be a constant part of daily life. Despite my illnesses, I have always remained dedicated to leading my ‘Sarah’s Runners’ groups in Tunbridge Wells, and even completed the Jungfrau Marathon in Switzerland in September 2013, just 9 months after major surgery. The most humbling high-point since my illness was being awarded an ‘Unsung Hero’ award in 2012 that I received for writing an inspirational blog about my recovery and return to sport.
