Tamara's New Year Resolutions

The arrival of a new year is marked by nationwide self-promises to be a better, healthier you. For me, New Year resolutions centre around fitness and enjoying the great outdoors.

My New Year resolutions for 2014:
1. Here at the Sweaty Betty Support Office, we are very lucky to run a variety of lunchtime and after-hours fitness classes across a range of sports. I resolve in 2014 to attend at least two of these workouts per week. With run club, power yoga, bootcamp, Pilates and netball to choose from, I’m spoilt for choice!

2. I practice yoga regularly, but this year I plan to do yoga in five unusual locations. I’ve always wanted to try aerial yoga (suspended from the ceiling) so I will start with that, followed by practicing in a mountain hut after my ski tour, and on a stand-up paddleboard in the sea.

3. Swim training has been a part of my weekly workout regime for years, so at some point this year I hope to achieve a long-time fitness aspiration of mine and complete an open-water swim weekend.

4. My family and I enjoy a variety of water sports, and we are all particularly keen surfers, so during 2014, I would like to take my children surfing in Cornwall.

5. The vibrant, beautiful city of London has so much to offer in terms of sights and sport, and I have promised myself that this year I will see and enjoy much more of it. I intend to walk a new route with my dog at least once a month, to discover new parts of my home city.
