Sweaty Betty Host ASICS event at Selfridges!

posted on Tuesday, 14th September 2010by Sweaty Betty | 0 Comments

Funny story actually...for ages we actually had Mr Onitsuka, creator of ASICS as our screen saver when I was working in Kingston. I put it up there after customers asked me about the history of the trainers and what it stands for.
ASICS stands for "Anima Sana in Corpore Sano", a sound mind in a sound body.
Mr Kihachiro Onitsuka or Mr Asics, as I like to call him, was not only a creator but also a scientist in some respect. I left him as our screen saver for a little while longer so people could realise what a genius this man was.
And here I am, now in Selfridges with an exciting event coming up! You may have already noticed there is a BIG shoe theme in Selfridges at the moment with the new shoe department, the Vivienne Westwood Exhibition and funny enough, even the music is themed.
So we decided to Join in. The "Sweatbetty" concession on the third floor will be holding our very own event. From 3pm-7pm, this Thursday at Selfridges London you will be able to get a gait analysis with an ASICS expert. He will assess you while running on a treadmill and fit you with the perfect trainers.
Not to miss. No need to book. Spread the word.
Come on, any chance to try on some shoes!!!

Very excited to say that I have just opened a large white crested

Very excited to say that I have just opened a large white crested envelope with thickest white card trimmed in gold inside, inviting me to a reception for the British Clothing Industry at Buckingham Palace!  What will the Queen make of the name Sweaty Betty?!?  What shall I wear?  I dont need to wear a hat, but should I?  I guess it will be quite flamboyant, so I'll definitely need to go for it, wont I?
