The Old City

I have just returned from a birthday trip to Istanbul, where we stayed in the new Soho House. A former US embassy located in a 19th century palazzo, the buildings palatial proportions, ornate ceilings and eclectic mix of modern and vintage furniture make this an ideal destination for a weekend escape. We spent plenty of time in the basement bar playing ping pong and enjoying my new favourite cocktail the Celery Southside, a delicious mixture of gin, celery and melon liquor. I also used the trip as an excuse to stock up at the Grand Bazaar on ceramics and hammam essentials.

Living clean

My friend Calgary Avansino’s new book Keep It Real has just hit shelves and I really recommend it to anyone looking to get into healthy eating. Calgary and her family are great advocates of good nutrition and it’s so interesting to hear her philosophy, particularly on how to get your kids to eat well. My daughter and I attended her book launch at Liberty last week and we ended up coming away with three copies for her friends.
It’s all about the base

We’ve been on our family ski holiday to St Anton this month and our latest snow collection has been my favourite yet. On and off-piste I couldn’t take off my patterned base layers, particularly the Clubhouse Seamless Top and Clubhouse Seamless Leggings with a fun kettlebell print. While the weather is still colder, our base layers also double as warm layer for winter runs.

Reading List: Brooklyn

I've just finished reading Brooklyn, which is a lovely novel about an Irish girl moving to New York in the 1950s. This is a great story of female empowerment, where the protagonist leaves her small town and moves alone to the multi-cultural Brooklyn in search of a more prosperous life. Emotionally intelligent and moving I can’t recommend it enough. Saoirse Ronan has been nominated for an Oscar for her role in the film adaptation which I can’t wait to watch.
Art meets eco

One of my highlights of Istanbul was a visit to the Museum of Modern Art, which was a hub of creativity. A mixture of Turkish and international art, I was particularly moved by ‘Till it’s Gone, an exhibition on Nature and Sustainability which explored a selection of artists views on nature and ecological issues

Piece of the month: Sono Luxe Trousers

The Sono Luxe Trousers are my current go-to as the weather is getting more spring like. They are made in a really soft silky fabric with a fabulous drape that looks amazing with platform skate shoes, a white tee and the Selva Luxe Jacket. I got stopped in LA when I was wearing this outfit and asked where it was from.
The knockout workout

I always do our Get Fit For Free campaigns at home with my two daughters, following the workout video. They have been so excited about Sweaty Betty Rumble since I told them it was boxing-inspired, so we have all been really enjoying it. I used to do a lot of kickboxing and have really missed that incredible all-body workout, so it’s been great to pack a punch again.
