Sweaty Betty's Wilderness Festival highlights

Escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to get closer to nature. Sleeping under the stars and rising to the sounds of the wild. Waking up to daily mass yoga practice and moving constantly to the rhythm of world famous entertainers such as Bjork and Ben Howard. It sounds rather magical, doesn’t it? Indeed, there’s no better word to describe the ethereal Wilderness Festival set in Oxfordshire’s beautiful Cornbury Park.

Alongside tantalising outdoor banquets, immersive theatre productions, exhilarating bandstand performances and active adventures, Sweaty Betty was proud to be this year’s official festival activewear partner. In our aptly named Zen Den, health enthusiasts connected over free hula hoop parties, partner yoga workshops, inspiring daily challenges and delicious tastings during cooking demonstrations by food blogger Madeleine Shaw. It’s difficult to name just a few of the moments we loved best, but these are the ones we still can’t stop talking about…

Challenges at the Zen Den

6 minute partner planks. 4 minute blindfolded tree post. 170 hula hoop squats. Daily challenges at the Sweaty Betty Zen Den were a cause for celebration and friendly competition. With an amazing turnout and loads of repeat contenders, everyone who made it to the top of the leaderboard wore their winner’s ‘Wild Thing’ vests with pride. Mass yoga at the bandstand

There’s something about a beautiful blue sky, inspiring music, an incredible yoga instructor and 300+ people practising in unison that transforms yoga class from a restorative experience to a life-changing one. Our daily mass yoga at the bandstand, led by Sweaty Betty Ambassadors Jo Arthur and Charlie Morgan, had everyone up with the birds to salute the sun and embrace another day in the wild.

Packed classes and workshops

Sweaty Betty’s free fitness classes and nutrition workshops were always full, with everyone bringing plenty of positive energy to the Zen Den. From Xtend Barre’s Belinda Norton teaching barre-inspired conditioning sessions, to food blogger Madeleine Shaw whizzing up nutrient-packed smoothies, there was always an eager audience and beautiful sense of community.

Hidden Valley parties

Although family friendly through and through, Wilderness Festival’s late night Hidden Valley parties were a unique opportunity for the grown-ups to let the ethereal woodland set the scene for a night on the dancefloor. Non-stop music and acrobatic spectacles inspired our sense of adventure – and helped everyone assume their characters as part of daily fancy dress themes, including mermaids, vintage aviators and kings & queens.

Wild Runs (and swims)

Crowds gathered at the Zen Den each morning for the daily Wild Runs – including 3K and 7K trail options. An all-welcoming community of fitness and nature lovers, the ambience was “come one, come all”, and the spontaneous lake jump finales proved the perfect way to connect with fellow runners after a morning’s workout.
