Sweaty Betty's Insider Guide To Windsor

posted on Thursday, 12th June 2014 | find under What to do, Out and about
After spending an amazing, fitness-filled month in Windsor for the Roadshow back in March, the Sweaty Betty team have finally returned to the royal town for the opening of a beautiful new boutique. A picturesque location in the old Victorian railway station, the new store sits just a stone's throw from Windsor castle, full of workout wear as beautiful as the setting.

Here, the Roadshow team share their top picks of where to eat, drink and workout - perfect for any visitor to the area.

Eat & Drink

The Roadshow team were so excited to discover the hidden treasure that is Gogo's, at the Windsor Racecourse Marina. Located right on the waterfront, it's the perfect location to sit back and relax with a cocktail in hand; enjoying some nibbles and the stunning views while soaking up the atmosphere.

After a jog around Windsor Great Park, stop by The Fox and Hound - a fabulous country pub that is perfect for lunch or coffee. Located just down from the Bishopsgate entrance to the Park, it's equally ideal after a hack around the Park - you can enjoy refreshments while the horses make the most of the hay bales and buckets of water.

Windsor also has lots to offer in terms of tea shops, located around the castle and offering traditional English breakfast teas and scones - perfectly British, just like Sweaty Betty!

Do Pilates

Powmak Pilates on the Marina is the ultimate choice for Reformer Pilates. Every session is varied and challenging, the instructors are knowledgeable and every exercise is adapted for the individual's needs. Overlooking the river, it's a beautiful setting for a workout!

Practice Yoga

Yoga for Harmony is a peaceful, tranquil studio offering many different types of yoga, from Vinyasa and Kundalini to Hatha and Pre-natal. The light and airy studio has a heated floor; perfect for relaxing in savasana post-class.

Go Running

There are many beautiful open spaces to run in Windsor. The Roadshow team's favourite routes involved running past the stunning lakes and through the open spaces of Saville Garden and Virginia Water. Alternatively, run the full length of the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park - and keep an eye out for the deer!

Workout

There is a lot to offer outside of Windsor itself. Ascot has a great gym with a hot yoga studio called The Fitness Space as well as beautiful hotels with fantastic health and fitness facilities, such as Wentworth and Runnymeade. Personal trainers and classes can be held from the comfort of home, as well as outside in the parks. For those with little time who want a quick fitness blast, head to Strong Vibes for a Powerplate class.
