posted on Tuesday, 9th February 2016 | find under Tamara, Fashion , Fitness, Travel, Behind the Scenes
Just minutes from the ocean bordering Santa Monica and Brentwood, Montana Avenue is one of Los Angeles most exclusive areas. ‘LA perfectly embodies the active lifestyle we represent at Sweaty Betty’ says Sweaty Betty Founder and Creative Director Tamara ‘and the endless opportunities to stay active and stylish made Montana Avenue really standout as a location for our next boutique’.

To celebrate the opening of our second Californian boutique, Sweaty Betty has rounded up where to workout, eat and shop in this cool neighbourhood.

Known as one of Los Angeles’ premier shopping destinations, the residential tree-lined streets of Montana Avenue are filled with bohemian cool boutiques. 'I especially love the nearby Brentwood Country Mart' says Tamara 'it has a really cool independent vibe and a great variety of emerging LA labels'.

Fashion: For relaxed Californian style, Planet Blue offers fashion-forward pieces alongside vintage-inspired styles. When in LA, Tamara frequents one of Sweaty Betty’s Montana Avenue neighbours, Jill Roberts for their boutique edit from lesser known labels, as well as celebrity favourite James Perse for the 'best white tees around'.
Vintage: Threads on 17th is the place for those in-the-know on the lookout for gently worn designer buys. Head there for Prada dresses, Ferragamo shoes and more.

Mums: Giggle on Montana Avenue offers baby essentials with everything from aero-dynamic strollers to non-toxic toys. Mums-to-be can even register for post bump gifts.

Eat & Drink

‘It’s so easy to eat well in LA,’ reflects Tamara and ‘the relaxed family vibe of Montana Avenue lends to a number of delicious dining choices’.

Breakfast: 'My go-to place when I am in LA is Gjusta for breakfast or lunch', says Tamara 'it's a really cool hang-out serving light bites with a Middle Eastern flavour, I love the smoked fish on toasted bialy'.

Juice: LA is known for its healthy hotspots and a Tamara recommends Santa Monica favourite Beaming, ‘I can’t believe how many cold-pressed juices and smoothies are on offer here, plus they do delicious superfood baked goods from banana bread to brownies'.

Lunch: Farmshop located in the nearby Brentwood Country Mart is part restaurant, part market place and filled with locals catching the sun and eating fresh, light meals.

To Caffeinate: For an afternoon pick-me-up, Santa Monica locals head to Caffe Luxxxe for artisan coffee. Or for an airy, light-filled space with no wifi, Primo Passo Coffee Co. features baked goods from nearby Farmshop for a technology free catch-up.

Dinner: The location of Tamara's 'best burger ever', R+D Kitchen is a reliable choice with locals for their Crispy Chicken Sandwich paired with a cocktail. The hidden-away Locanda Portofino also offers traditional Italian fare for a delicious treat night.

Santa Monica’s hotels are some of California’s most beautiful, with an array of luxury lodgings to choose from. 'When I'm staying in Santa Monica, I usually head to The Rose Hotel in nearby Venice Beach for a really cool vibe', says Tamara 'owned by the fashion photographer Glen Luchford it's full of creatives and has beautiful interiors'.
