Run around Richmond Park - done!

posted on Saturday, 6th February 2010 | find under Fitness

I have joined Sweaty Betty's Fit4Free compaign and I took Yolanda's advice about cardio training and I decided to go for a long run around Richmond Park.  It was great!!!

Did you know Betties that running not only strengthens your cardiovascular system but also boosts your brain-power?   Neuroscientists at Cambridge University have shown that running stimulates the brain to grow fresh grey matter which has a big impact on our mental ability.  The new brain cells appear in a region that is linked to the formation and recollection of memories.  The good news Betties is that running and other aerobic exercise can improve memory and learning, and potentially slow down the deterioration of mental ability that happens with old age.  You can read a full articule at www.guardian.co.uk/science/210/jan/18/running-brain-memory-cell-growth

That's our Running Group.  Well done everyone who came last Monday - it was a super tough sprinting session!

I totally agree it was a super tough workout and I only just managed to complete the session. It's just very unfortunate for me that the mind is willing but the body is struggling. Never mind. Thanks Dom for being a fantastic trainer and for continuing to encourage me in my running and Pilates. Lola
