Rise above the storm and you will find the sunshine!

Hello!! I hope you all had  good weekend!

What a week! I started the week off with a trip to Bath for my rehab treatment with physio Anna. We did some hydrotherapy and I took away exercises to do in the pool at home. I then saw the Doctor for my first of three injections behind the patella to boost the healing process. As the week went on my knee felt better and better. I got a bit excited on Saturday morning- it suddenly felt a lot more comfortable and I could nearly bend it all the way! I have just returned from my second session in Bath and I am pleased with how it is progressing! Anyway, enough of knee talk......

I was talking to Mhairi - who is our team nutritionist - about any extra supplements I could take to help the healing process and to help my body in general when I am in training. She recommended that I take Vitamin D, Omega 3 and green tea. Vitamin D will help to maintain blood calcium levels whilst omega 3 will help maintain optimum heart, brain and joint health. Green tea is a good, natural source of antioxidants and will help get rid of any wasteful products- so will help to clear any waste around the trauma to my knee. Mhairi also suggested Cherry Active. I had not heard of this before but it is a well known product which is frequently advertised in running magazines and highly recommended by elite athletes. Cherry Active promotes restful sleep and aids recovery from exercise greatly. The products are made from Montmorency cherries and contain extremely high levels of naturally occurring antioxidants. Have a look at the website for more info......

I kept myself busy last week with work, gym and swimming, though it is hard to get around without driving! I've been lucky and had lots of help from my parents, my boyfriend and friends. I can't help feeling guilty for the lifts! I watched all the rugby- love the rugby, it's so exciting and atmospheric!! And went to a charity pub quiz and auction in support of my friends bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End. They are raising money for Leukaemia Research, a fantastic charity. I wish them well on that!

Hope you're staying active! It might be worth trying some of those supplements as part of your everyday health!
