Jessica Sample was our winner from the Marathon category of Get Fit 4 Free 2009 and is soon to embark on the upcoming London Marathon on April 25th. We caught up with both Jess and her trainer, expert blogger Joslyn to see what Get Fit 4 Free meant to her, what she gained from the experience and how she was getting on with her pre-marathon training.
What did get fit 4 free mean to you?
“By taking part in Get Fit 4 Free, I found the inspiration and motivation I needed to try new activities and push myself further. It was also enjoyable and sociable and a nice change from a gym setting. Winning the prize of marathon training was the icing on the cake and an opportunity not to be missed.”
What has the campaign done for you?
“As a result of my gruelling (but rewarding) training schedule I am so much fitter, stronger and toned. As London Marathon day looms, the training does certainly seem to be paying off (no pressure!) as so far I am running 2 minutes faster a mile than I was previously.”
Has this experience changed your attitude to life and fitness?
“Winning this prize has definitely given me a new lease of life and confidence in my running ability. Exercise and running numerous miles is now an enjoyable part of my weekly routine and I am actually looking forward to Marathon day (regardless of my time) and even starting to think about my future goals and challenges post Marathon.”
