The 30 Day Sweat Challenge: The month in numbers

posted on Thursday, 2nd October 2014 | find under Fitness
One challenge, 30 days. The Sweaty Betty 30 Day Sweat Challenge comes to a close this week. Here’s how the month looked in numbers.

Don’t forget that all the blogs and videos are still available online, so if you’ve lapsed or are yet to start the challenge, there’s still time to catch up!

The month in numbers…

35 recipes

35 recipes. The month was packed with delicious energy-powered breakfasts, snacks, smoothies and inspiring dinner menus from nutritionists and healthy eating bloggers including Naturally Sassy, The Detox Kitchen, Calgary Avansino and Danielle Copperman.

9 smoothie recipes
9 juice and smoothie recipes. Countless carrots and apples were pulverised over the month, with 4 green juice recipes, one 1 red juice recipe and 4 smoothie recipes over the 30 days.

3.1 million people

3.1m people joined in #SB30DaySweat on Twitter and Facebook. Challengers came from all over the world, from Europe, America, Thailand, Sri Lanka and even Hawaii.

Distance run

To the moon and back nearly 5 and a half times - the distance we'd have reached if everyone who saw the #SB30DaySweat hashtag had run one mile.

Four plank styles

4 types of plank. On day 26, planks proved fun as blogger Faya (Fitness on Toast) showed how to work the whole body with four variations on the go-to move.

Hours of exercise

6.5 hours of Hiitgirl workouts. There were 13 Hiitgirl workouts in the 30 Day Sweat Challenge, each featuring 10 workouts. The Hiitgirl workout devised by founder Susan Dyson combines 15 minutes of muscle-toning moves plus fat-torching metabolic moves.

Hours of yoga

1.5 hours of yoga. On days 5, 12 and 28, SB ambassador and yogi Charlie Morgan showed how to stretch those muscles in her 15-minute yoga class, while SB ambassador Jo challenged you to 30 minutes of sun salutations on day 22. Day 17 saw Sweaty Betty's Creative Director Tamara challenge you to flow from crow to tripod headstand and back to crow in a series of yoga poses. Did you manage it?

Seven days sugar-free

7 days of banishing sugar. In week 2, healthy eating expert Calgary Avansino challenged you to say bye bye to sugar with a series of recipes to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Prizes rewarded

50 water bottles were won over the month. Plus 3 bumbags, 120 socks and many more official #SB30DaySweat T-shirts.

Days of mindfulness

3 days of mindfulness. It wasn’t all high-powered cardio: on days 1, 14 and 28, you took time out to truly relax with Neom’s mindfulness expert Emma Mills.

Fastest 1 mile time

The world record for the fastest mile stands at 4.12 minutes - and some of you came pretty close in Tamara's fastest mile challenge on day 3

Feeling a little lost now it's over? All the blogs and online videos will stay online, so you can continue to sweat into October and beyond.
