Sweaty Betty Beach Camp 2012

posted on Monday, 29th October 2012 | find under Tamara

For this year’s summer beach camp the Sweaty Betty team descended on the beautiful Watergate bay just north of Newquay, Cornwall. After a nights stay at Watergate Bay Hotel with its breath-taking panoramic views of the bay, an evening of overindulgence was followed by an obligatory 7.30 am 5 mile run along the beach. Ideal for blowing away any cobwebs (and that was just the warm up!).

We barely had chance to finish our breakfast before we were squeezing into our wetsuits and taking to the waves as surfing was the next order of the day. From beginners to pros (almost) we all jumped straight in- with sea that cold hesitation was not an option. Surfing proved not only a chance to test the endurance of our legs but also seriously engages the core (and brain, concentration is key!).
Core training did not stop there.

Once out of our wetsuits we were straight onto our yoga mats. Now, imagine yourself doing yoga facing a long stretch of Cornish coastline illuminated by the sun’s autumn rays … I don’t think anybody’s eyes were drifting up to the ceiling during cobra.

The perfect 24 hours for team Sweaty Betty, we just needed another 24 out of the office to recover!
