Chin Up!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will...

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won, had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

As I wrote in my last entry I went to Bournemouth to train for a few days. Unfortunately during only my second session there I had a bit of a mishap resulting in a very painful knee and jaw! As I was trying to calm myself, all I could think of was "what happens now? what have I done?" and numerous other thoughts along the same line- probably very inappropriate to write here!! This happened on Tuesday and as you can imagine I was totally gutted. I'm not very good at dealing with injuries and minor set backs. I am quite impatient and definately do not enjoy "sympathy voices" I just want it to hurry up and go away!! I did all I could do- Sue (my coach)drove us straight to my gym where Garry and Helen treated it as best they could and I spent Tuesday and Wednesday icing it as much as I could. Insanely bored on Wednesday night I went for a swim with my boyfriend and friends. The cold water felt very nice and it was a fanatastic work out for my arms, they were burning after! I won't lie, the sauna was the best part after!

It is so hard to stay positive the whole time- particularly when I have the final European trial in a couple of weeks- but I am hopeful to be ready to compete then! For now, my focus is on a speedy recovery superwoman style and I hope to be back on the trampoline very soon!!

Hope you are all keeping well- apologies for the long post (too much time on my hands!!!)

Hello Laura,
Pilates Expert Sarah here - reading your blog and feeling your frustrations. Sounds like you are very strong and you will go from strength to strength with your recovery. When you fall off a horse, you have to get back on and you are doing just that!

Good luck and I'm sure you don't need any help from a Pilates instructor because the team around you sound like they are doing a much better job than I can, but if you need help with Pilates and your recovery, I'd love to help.

Lots of good wishes and I know you will be at your highest strength again very soon. Stay positive and you will achieve your goals again.
