  1. On average 27,000 kilos of strawberries and 7,000 litres of cream are consumed throughout the duration of the tournament each year
  2. The longest match ever played during Wimbledon was in 2010 when John Isner faced off Nicolas Mahut for 11 hours and 5 minutes over three days
  3. Martina Navratilova has won the women’s singles title nine times, more than any other female player – winning years were 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1990
  4. Around 150,000 glasses of Pimm’s are served annually at the tournament
  5. Wimbledon has its own resident hawk, Rufus, who during the championships patrols the All England club with the main aim of deterring local pigeons from doing their worst
  6. The last married woman to win the women's singles championship was Chris Evert Lloyd in 1981
  7. A wooden racket was last used at Wimbledon in 1987
  8. The all-time top selling gift in the Wimbledon gift shop is the yellow mini tennis ball keying of which 18,000 were sold in 2011
  9. The record for the fastest women’s serve at Wimbledon is still held by Venus Williams with 129 mph (2008)
  10. In 2010 54,250 tennis balls were used during the event
