Introducing London Edit: Exclusive collection insights

posted on Wednesday, 9th September 2015 | find under Fashion
This season’s new London Edit capsule collection promises to cement Sweaty Betty’s place at the fore of fashion-forward activewear. An exciting first for Sweaty Betty, London Edit is a luxury multi-sport capsule collection that captures a typical active day in London.

Every piece in the nine piece collection tells a story. The narrative opens with startling whites, representing the calm of the city at dusk before the people flood the streets. Designed for yoga, the complementary Kosha Vest and Zubhra Leggings will inspire a pure start to the day. Subtle mesh inserts also reflect London’s skyline – a pattern that comes to life as the time and the collection progresses into the colourful heart of the day.

“The design team came back to this picture of the Shard at sunrise time and time again. We were obsessed with the way the fragmented tip caught the light and how, even several floors above, the effect was almost kaleidoscopic,” says head designer Lisa Nduwke.

The Balance Leotard and Free Spin Reversible Leggings capture the craziness and freneticism of London during the working day. The colours of the traffic, the clothes, the sky – everything becomes brighter and bolder. The mash-up print in bold saturated colours was designed to capture this feeling, while the most technical fabrics were selected to ensure optimal performance across more high-impact and activities. Wear the exclusive to Sweaty Betty printed TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio Watch to track your workouts.

Even as the day transitions into night, the bold reflective details in strong geometric lines helped the Sweaty Betty design team maintain continuity while drawing the story and the collection to a close. Colour pop hems are a reminder of the day that’s been, while midnight hues take over to permit the night ninja to slip through the shadows and run through London’s winding streets.

We are so excited to launch our most avant-garde range ever, and by limiting most pieces in the collection to just 100 items, we hope you’ll enjoy this opportunity to own a piece of fitness fashion design history. Your workouts will never be the same again.

Shop the collection online here, and across select London and New York boutiques. To find out more about the collection, read more here and to learn about the London Edit model Betty Adewole, read Sweaty Betty’s exclusive interview here.
