Time for Tea

posted on Thursday, 15th April 2010 | find under Fitness

Did you know that herbal teas count towards your recommended 2 litres of water a day and they also have many health benefits? They are also caffiene free. If you want to cut down on your tea or coffee, try replacing every other cup with a herbal alternative. Here are a few of my favourites:

Nettle tea: Great for urinary problems and inflammation. A good source of beta-carotene, vitamin A, C and E, iron, calcium, phosphates and minerals.
Peppermint tea: perfect to aid digestion after a meal and also very beneficial for irritable bowel syndrome.
Chamomile tea: a calming tea, perfect to de-stress or to help with insomnia.
Dandelion tea: great for indigestion, stomach cramps and cleansing the liver and kidneys. As Dandelion leaf is a natural diuretic that increases urine production by promoting the excretion of salts and water from the kidneys, it is often used as a weight loss aid to get rid of excess water.
