Tamara's spring summer style guide

posted on Monday, 15th February 2016 | find under Tamara, Fashion
For this seasons edits, Sweaty Betty’s Founder and Creative Director Tamara took inspiration from the captivating jewel of Brazil. ‘Rio is not just about the beach’, she reflects, ‘there is a vibrancy throughout the city and its definitive neighbourhoods that really inspired the design team’. Fusing bold Brazilian style with London cool, the atmosphere in Rio’s different areas form the basis for the new season edits. Inspired by these innovative looks, Tamara has compiled her SS16 style rules…

Showcase the silhouette

The body-confidence on display in Brazil was really inspiring and this season’s daring silhouettes are designed to sculpt the feminine silhouette. The mesh panels and contrasting colours of the Urdhva Leggings in the Leblon Edit perfectly compliment the cropped Patanjali Yoga Knit.

Say it with print

A pair of printed bottoms can transform an outfit and the leggings of the moment have to be the Santa Marta Run Tights. Not only do they lengthen the legs due to slimming side panels, the bright geometric design is inspired by Rio’s iconic Lapa steps. To ensure the print really stood out, I styled them with the colour block Fleece Tech Pullover in statement blue, although black would work just as well.

Head-to-toe style

This season’s prints are our most daring ever, and with summer approaching now is the time to wear head-to-toe. Whether this is clashing two standout styles (read my guide on how to do this here) or wearing matching base layers, now is the time to be bold. Cue our model in the Clubhouse Seamless Top and co-ordinating Clubhouse Seamless Leggings.

The finishing touch

Outfit building in Rio's exclusive Leblon neighbourhood is as carefully considered as in London. The key in both places is choosing the right accessories, whether this is a pair of mirrored sunglasses, oversized headphones, white trainers or our essential Luxe Gym Bag.

Wear it bright

Rio is such a vibrant city. The sheer array of bright hues and geometric patterns just makes you want to wear more colour. As much as I love classic black, with spring approaching I added lots of colour to the edits as now's time to add bright hues to your wardrobe.
