No.1 Carnaby by Sweaty Betty: Introducing Farm Girl

posted on Friday, 25th August 2017 | find under Nutrition, Behind the Scenes
On the hunt for healthy, delicious and Instagrammable food? Your search stops here. Notting Hill’s favourite cafe, Farm Girl (the queues need to be seen to be believed), is taking over the first floor of No.1 Carnaby with rose lattes, the best avocado toast in town, breakfast bowls and superfood cocktails.

Founded by Rose Mann and her boyfriend Anthony Hood, Farm Girl @ No.1 Carnaby values fresh, nutritionally nurturing ingredients and delivers healthy food which will light up not only your taste buds but your social feed too. Having grown up on a farm in Australia, Rose can milk a cow just as well as she can rock her printed leggings. We caught up with her to talk French bulldogs, workouts and go-to recipes.

Describe Farm Girl in 3 words?

Pretty, tasty, relaxed.

What is the ethos behind Farm Girl @ No 1. Carnaby?

Let food be thy happiness! Through yummy food and a pretty setting we are trying to make people smile.

Why did you start your business?

Due to my love of coffee, food and meeting new people. I saw a gap in the market for healthy, good quality food and coffee in a relaxed and fun environment.

Where did the name Farm Girl come from?

I had an amazing childhood, growing up on a farm in the western district of Victoria, Australia, so the name just made sense.

How do you find recipe inspiration?

Through travel, I was in Mexico recently and have a huge list of exciting things to share on the new menu. So it’s always being updated depending on where myself and the team have been.

Go-to breakfast?

I’m a porridge girl! I use teff, a gluten-free grain, rather than oats and top with banana, mango, cashew butter and honey - you can find a similar version on the menu at No 1. Carnaby.

Tell us about the French bulldog?

Bronte! She is 2 and a half years old and grew up at Farm Girl, meaning she has a stomach like a horse. I got a second pup in January, an English bulldog called Bear. They hang out at Portobello and the customers love them, they may even make an appearance at No. 1 Carnaby.

Green juice or cocktail?

A green cocktail would be ideal!
