The final recipe in Natasha Corrett’s #SBFlyFlexFlow food series, this cleansing antioxidant-rich smoothie will give you the feel-good factor you need to relax into your deepest savasana ever. Add it to your repertoire, along with high-energy Creamy Cashew Porridge and protein-packed Green Chia Fritters, for a well-rounded diet. For the Flow part of #SBFlyFlexFlow I have created a highly nutritious green smoothie to boost your immune system and give you plenty of energy.

When practising yoga and stretching your muscles, it’s important to nourish your body as much as you would when doing the Flex or Fly workouts. You can really pack some amazing superfoods into your green smoothie and bulk it up to be a filling, convenient breakfast. I tend to put everything but the kitchen sink in mine – among my favourite ingredients are spirulina, maca, lucuma, chia seeds and acai. If you find you are hungry after a couple hours, you can also mix in a handful of oats or a couple spoonfuls of nut butter.

A blended breakfast is a wonderful way to give the digestive system a break while filling your body with plenty of nutrients and raw foods. If you have a high-speed blender, combining things like broccoli, fennel and cucumber with fruit makes another lovely concoction.

When making your own recipes, remember to use 70% vegetables and only 30% fruit. A diet high in fruit is acid forming and plays havoc on your blood sugar levels. You can experience energy highs and lows and increased exhaustion as a result. If you are buying smoothies from stores, always check the ingredients to make sure you’re getting the right balance.

Radiance Green Smoothie

Serves 2

50g cucumber, roughly chopped
100g spinach leaves
1 tsp chia seeds
50g banana
50g grapefruit
1/4 tsp spirulina powder
1 tincture of liquid Chlorophyll (optional)
250ml water or coconut water
180ml alkaline/filtered water

Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blitz until smooth – just add a little more water/coconut water if it looks too thick. Drink to your heart's content.
