AW12 Creative Inspiration

posted on Tuesday, 24th July 2012 | find under Fashion

AW12 sees Sweaty Betty looking at strong female pioneers, from motorbike stunt riders like Cesca Miles, to the 1940s American pilot, Amelia Earhart. Biker influences can be seen scattered throughout the collection from protective elbows, padded shoulders and asymmetric zips to tattoo inspired designs played out in unexpected fabrics such as softest fleece and delicate lace. 1940s military and pilot references are captured in utility outerwear styles. The mood is dark and protective with layering, enveloping high necks and cocoon shapes.

Throw in a surprising bold floral print taken from Beyoncé’s technicolour video “Why don’t you love me?” and shift up into a highly energetic gear. Fluoro accents and reflective piping mirror the current trend for all things ‘glow in the dark’. With the focus on futuristic fabrics, latest technology and figure-flattering silhouettes, it is time to embrace your inner Avenger - Scarlett Johansson style - of course.
