A World Cup Medal....
Last week I went to my first World Cup fully fit since returning from my injury last year. We left from Luton last Wednesday and arrived at our amazing hotel in Bulgaria around midnight. My training was really good out there and I felt ready to go. Unfortunately my individual competition did not go to plan and I underperformed in my first routine and found myself battling from the first move of my second routine after my legs totally gave way! Despite this I fought really hard and did get through my routine- only to loose balance on the last move and landed on the side!! I have to say I was totally gutted and frustrated after knocking out routine after routine in training and just upset at failing to replicate that in my competition. I guess that is sport though and its about how you deal with that disappoint.
The following day I was in my first ever Senior World Cup final doing synchro with my new partner, Bryony Page. We have only recently formed a pair and this was our first official outing on the World stage. We were competing a routine which included two triple somersaults- something which, as far as I know, no other ladies synchro pair have ever competed before! We got through the routine and finished up in the bronze medal position!! We were both very excited and couldnt have asked for more in our first competition together. It is also my first senior World medal!
All in all, the trip was brilliant- the best I have been on with the team. We all got on so well and supported each other. We certainly showed the rest of the world what we are about :) Despite being disappointed with my individual performance, I proved to myself that I can compete under pressure and I can compete well and that is something I will transfer into my indivdual competition.
Heres a lovely pic of he GB ladies team! (im the little one on the end on the right next to my coach)
Looking forward to a few days off over the weekend and then off to squad on Tuesday for the week.
HAPPY EASTER! Have a good weekend xx
