A much needed break
After working so hard and doing everything I can to help my injury repair, I found it utterly frustrating and upsetting that it is not healing quickly enough and that it is likely I will not be fit in time to compete in the European Championships in April. As you can imagine after training so hard and wanting something so much it is always hard to deal with disappointment. However I realise this is all part of training and at least I will make a full recovery at the end, it is just incredibly disappointing for now. Since last week I am finding it hard to remain positive all the time and I am very up and down emotionally, it is so draining and takes a lot of energy to stay positive when you are utterly frustrated and it is out of your control. I am a bit of a control freak with my training because that is what works for me so to have an injury where the healing process is out of your control is quite hard to deal with! I know it is not the end of the world and it is only a minor set back but it means a lot to me!
I think I am also struggling because there is so much going on. At the end of this week I officially finish my job after handing in my notice so that I can train full time. It is also my 21st birthday on Friday and last week I had a party to celebrate! So whilst finding it frustrating and difficult to deal with my injury, I have the excitement of my birthday, finishing my job all mixed with the inconclusive decision of whether or not I will be able to compete in the Europeans.
Anyway, enough of the whining, I wanted to show you a picture of me at my party dressed as a bunch of grapes! It was a fancy dress party and the theme was to dress as anything beginning with L or G. I had a really good time and enjoyed seeing all my friends and spent the weekend with my cousins who I get along with very well. On Sunday I also started the Bridgwater Sport Relief Mile! It wa great to see such a good turn out for the event and the weather stayed nice too. I then watched my friend Jess in the Beauty and the Beast which was brilliant. So all in all, I had a fabulous weekend and it is back to working hard with my recovery now.
