Our Sweaty Betty Retreat

The Sweaty Betty team are feeling incredibly zen following a rejuvenating, yoga-filled weekend with Chaya Yoga Retreats. It was the perfect opportunity to put our new yoga ranges through their paces on the mat and we’ve curated a list of must-haves for a yoga retreat.
After a quick half hour train journey on Friday afternoon, we were transported from busy London living to the serene and peaceful yoga retreat in Kent’s Romney Marsh in what felt like no time at all.
After a quick debrief over refreshing peppermint tea, we were on our mats for an early evening stretch - the first of a series of five two hour classes throughout the weekend. A luxe yoga retreat meant we really needed to look the part, so we dressed in the Salabasana Reversible Yoga Leggings and the Niyama Yoga Vest as our go-to yoga pieces for classes. The leggings have a statement print and an amazing reversible opaque fabric. The elasticated waist keeps them in place throughout poses – no riding up or slipping down.
We love the Niyama Yoga Vest for its seamless sweat-wicking fabric and inner bra support. It’s a flattering fit as well, with a high neckline that stays put throughout Chaturangas. While cooling down in savasana, our favourite is the Barbican Top – it’s an easy layering piece for more meditative and cooling postures.
Throughout the class, we incorporated breath work and mediation and vowed to ensure we got the most out of the retreat. With the combination of individualized attention, a detox menu and the right kit, it was surprisingly easy to unwind!
We had four hours of yoga a day, and the inspirational teacher ensured we had the full yoga experience, with gently paced sequences that catered for beginners and intermediates alike.
Also spotted by other attendees of the retreat was the Soul Yoga Tee, this season in a sweat-wicking, super soft Tencel elastane – it’s a perfect layering piece. A couple of the retreat yoginis wore it over the Halasana Yoga Bra, with its feminine shoulder straps and soft seamless fabric.
The Romney Marsh countryside offered up endless options for countryside walks in between the yoga sessions, and its peaceful setting ensured long restful sleeps. The close proximity to London made for an easy weekend escape, but we felt miles away when we returned refreshed and revived on Sunday evening.
We’re back to work on Monday and looking forward to this evening’s run club, though the pace will definitely be a lot different from the yoga retreat!
