Having a ball at the golf open

SO I've had a week off in the not so sunny North West of England to watch the pros at the Women's British Golf Open.

We went last year and had a ball (excuse the expression) and this year didn't disappoint.

  • We had the weather (horizontal rain coming off the Irish Sea in the morning);
  • We had the fashion (albeit slightly hidden by waterproofs);
  • We had the characters (Christina Kim was whooping it up on the course); and
  • Of course we had great golf on a beautiful course at Royal Birkdale.

This year was also a bit of networking for me since I hope to be working with fab golf clothing provider Rohnisch when I get Golf Princess up and running.

It's always fun to get out for a day for a change of scene.  And the combination of fresh (if slightly bracing) air and world class sports women was the perfect day out with my hubby.

The highlight was when we found ourselves next to a fiendish, green-side bunker.  Moments later Paula Creamer planted her ball right in front of us (unfortunately for her in the bunker).

Yani Tseng was a worthy winner, leading from day one and special mention needs to go to British player Becky Brewerton who got her first ever hole in one and to British Amateur Kelly Tidy who put in a great performance for such a big occasion.
