Rolling with it

Alex has signed us up for the London Duathlon 2010. Im slightly lost for words (not great when you write a blog) and a little aprehensive.

This morning i managed a good 9 mile run followed by a good solid cycling session. Alex is lucky enough to be training in the sunny hills of CapeTown whilst i am settling for the Fitness First in Mile End. I love to run and am aiming for 35miles a week by the end of January. Cycling however is a whole other story. I may cruise about town on a single speed and whilst it is a slight workout, it is also a chance to look just a little more than cool! Cycling with gears, helmets, padded shorts and hills is a whole other story.I actually had a nightmare last night about losing my bike in transition and then running with my helmet still on.

However i love a good sporting goal and took myself off to the gym for the last few nights. With the alpine setting on and my feet clipped in i managed a solid 50minutes. Its hard...really hard. Exciting to start a new sport though and i will have to conquer it, especially as Alex has turned down the option of tandem cycling.
