I haven’t really stopped moving since my first ballet class at nursery, fitness has always been part of who I am and I don’t really feel as though I function without focused activity in my life. The one constant that I have kept returning to, since first being introduced to Hatha in the mid 1990s, is yoga.

In 1998 I went to my first Bikram class in London and was hooked on hot, attending a class whenever I visited. I loved the strength and power, so in the absence of any heated studios outside London at that time I started to attend Ashtanga. It was during a trip to New York in 2011 that I attended a fantastic hot studio in Greenwich and realised that I had to have yoga in my life full-time, I came back and took my teacher training qualification and haven't looked back since.

      Power Song: Snap, The Power
Personal Best: Managing to keep my cool (in 40 degrees C) through a 90 minute class with two rows of Leicester Tigers behind me!
Favourite Yoga Pose: Standing Head to Knee (Dandyamana Janu Sirsasana)
Next Big Challenge: To support my favourite local charity by organising a yoga retreat in Sri Lanka which will involve helping out at The Rosie May Home, an orphanage for young girls. The retreat will secure funding for up to 20 girls for one year.

My love of fitness really came about while I was living in Slovakia. Wanting to stay healthy but with limited access to gyms and classes, I took up running and created my own at-home workouts. Upon my return to the UK, I qualified as a personal trainer.

After identifying a severe lack of post-natal exercise classes on the fitness scene, I took it upon myself to fill this gap in the market, and set up Mummies & Babies Post-Natal Fitness. Empowering and educating women on the benefits of safe and effective exercise is so rewarding, and the classes were an instant hit. My fitness repertoire soon extended to Pilates; which I discovered could not only relieve my own lower back pain, but was fantastic for post-natal recovery. At the request of my clients, I have gone onto develop the Little Black Dress Workout, launch two pre/post-natal fitness DVD, lead workshops and develop my own community of pre/post-natal fitness specialists.

Power Song: Maniac – Michael Sembello
Personal Best: Changing the lives of over 1,000 pregnant & post-natal women in Nottingham over the past 7 years
      Favourite Yoga Pose: Bridge
Next Big Challenge: An exercise app and my next DVD
