"There has never been a great athlete who died not knowing what pain is." Bill Bradley

I quite like that quote!! I dont know if you've noticed but I love quotes and poems, they really help me whenever I'm feeling positive or negative. You can always find words to sum up how you feel and usually when you're feeling pretty low words rationalise your negative thoughts and put them into perspective! I like this quote because it's the truth. When have you ever heard a World/ Olympic/ European Champion ever say that was so easy I didn't really have to do much work, I wasn't bothered about where I finished? Never. Well at least I have never heard an athlete say that!! I don't know anyone who hasn't had a rough time before glory.

Anyway... I still haven't been given the thumbs up to get back on the trampoline though my knee is progressing really well. I spent last week back at Bisham Abbey- another positive and progressive week. It is a fantastic place to train and the support is brilliant. This time I was training beside Sophie Johnstone, Judo, who was in rehab after having reconstructive surgery on her knee and Kathryn Fudge, Handball, who had damaged her ankle. Both girls were great and once again it was so good to be around athletes from different sports who are in the same position as you. Like me, Sophie missed her European Championships because of the injury. I knew how that felt and it was good to talk about it.

This week I will be at Bath University training with (or nearby in the gym!!) the National Squad. It's a good time to catch up with the support team and the other trampolinists, though I want to be jumping with them too!!

I also wanted to share with you my new Sweaty Betty kit. I am so chuffed with it- particularly the FitFlops. They are amazing!! So light, spongy and really comfy to wear. I love wearing flip flops after training, although my trainers are comfy it feels good to let my feet breathe! I wasn't sure I would like them as I thought they looked quite big and clumpy but as soon as I put them on I loved them, they are really light! I also got the studio jacket which is brilliant. It'such a lovely colour and fits really well!

I thought I would leave you with part of a poem. Enjoy....

"Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.

It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.

Only you know what is best for you.

Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart.

Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless."

Hi Laura, as I clicked open your blog and saw the quote at the top it made me chuckle. My friend is a triathlete and has her first tri of the year on Sunday, when she is attempting to qualify for the Olympic team. So as part of this, she is currently enduring a very painful sports massage from my husband in our front room (he's very good but as I'm sure you can appreciate it's a very painful experience). So I have just shared the quote with her and it at least helped her to chuckle through the nauseating pain!
