Sweaty Betty's guide to Richmond

posted on Thursday, 3rd March 2016 | find under Fitness, Travel, Behind the Scenes
Home to royal parks, Michelin star restaurants and scenic views of the Thames, the borough of Richmond has long been a favourite destination with Londoners looking for a calmer way of life. ‘We have loved being part of Richmond’s thriving active community over the last few years’ says Sweaty Betty Founder and Creative Director Tamara ‘and are so excited to open in a new location on the high street’. Just around the corner from our former store, there is even more room for your favourite activewear and in-store classes. As our new boutique opens its doors, see Sweaty Betty’s exclusive guide on where to eat, workout and shop in the area.

Richmond Hill Bakery

Voted one of the best places for croissants in London by Time Out, Richmond Hill Bakery slightly out of the city centre is a destination for a delicious post-workout treat.

Muriel’s Kitchen

Offering a modern take on British dishes and traditional comfort food, Muriel’s Kitchen is popular with locals for their delicious food. Tamara recommends heading there for lunch and trying ‘the delicious heritage carrot and kale salad, followed by a cake if you’re feeling naughty’.

Chez Lindsay

Just beyond Richmond’s high-end boutiques, French bistro Chez Lindsay’s amazing riverside views, authentic rustic cuisine and homely interiors attract a loyal crowd.

Mixing hot yoga with traditional style practice, Richmond’s Yogahaven provides a relaxing escape from the bustle of the centre. Tamara recommends trying ‘one of Stu’s vinyasa classes for a challenging practice or Jivamukti yoga with Allie’.

Tucked away down a cobbled side street, this beautiful open studio is the perfect place to strengthen, lengthen and tone. Offering low-impact but high intensity workouts, Barreworks is the place to go to try and achieve the body of a dancer.

Bootcamp Pilates

The neighbour to our former store, Bootcamp Pilates’ reformer classes are a favourite with Richmond locals for their serious ab-crunching results. Tamara loves ‘the Cardio Pilates classes for a great twist on traditional reformer, they work up a serious sweat’.

An exciting new addition to Richmond Hill’s wellness scene, Bhuti is a beautiful new space offering a variety of yoga styles, Pilates and beauty treatments. With two studios filled with natural light, this is a truly relaxing place to practice before visiting their vegan café for a post-workout juice.
