Paola's Body Barre x Sweaty Betty Guildford

The secret to London's best bums is coming to Surrey, Paola's Body Barre is opening at Sweaty Betty Guildford on 14-22 Market Street, just off the High Street and we couldn't be more excited. In fact we're so happy to feel the burn that we're hosting a full day of celebrations with prosecco, treats and free classes. We caught up with founder Paola to find more about her method and to celebrate her fourth studio opening...

How did you get into fitness?
 

I have always been passionate about fitness and health. I was an extremely sporty kid and that followed throughout my high school years. I have been a personal trainer since I was 21 and after my first child I realised my body wanted something different to the heavy weights, pounding the pavements and jogging every day! I discovered Pilates 12 years ago and was hooked. Over the years I have devised my own routine drawing on my fitness back ground and Pilates. I “upped the anti” on the original Pilates repertoire, which gave my client’s a routine that would keep their heart rate up whilst adhering to the basic principles of Pilates.


Tell us about the workout?

Fast paced with a big focus on dynamic Pilates, barre and functional training, Paola's Body Barre is a full-body workout designed for serious burn. 

Your favourite workout and why?

My favourite workout is my own, it's a one stop shop for the body. Paola’s BodyBarre is an efficient workout that takes elements from Pilates, ballet barre conditioning, functional training and HIIT. The class ensures you burn calories, build core strength, tone the whole body and improve your posture, without bulking the muscles up. 
 

How do your classes differ from other exercise studios?


We have a variety of classes: Yoga, Pilates, TRX, HIIT, Pre and Post Natal Pilates, Barre-Pilates-Core and of course the PBB method. I would say we are different in that we encourage a mixture of training.

 

Do you need to have done Pilates and/or barre before?
 

Not at all. We teach a multi levelled class suited to every fitness level and experience. We keep the classes small so we can correct and modify where need be!


What is your best healthy living tip?

Balance is the key, I live by an 80/20 rule as I don’t believe in being super strict 100% of the time. During the week I am very controlled with my eating and exercise so at the weekend I can enjoy myself with the children. I certainly won't beat myself up if I have a burger, I think the negative energy and stress you create for yourself is far worse than having the treat itself.
