From New York City to San Francisco Bay, our professional Sweaty Betty yoginis are stretching it out in style. We caught up with ambassadors Stacey Brass and Kimberly Hu to find out what makes them tick…

Kimberly Hu, Budokon Yoga Instructor, San Francisco

A yoga practitioner since 1997, Kimberly Hu has taught many forms of yoga in New York, London and more recently San Francisco, California. Kimberly specialises in Vinyasa Flow as well as Budokon Yoga, a fusion of yoga and mixed martial arts, meaning she really pushes her Sweaty Betty gear to the limit each and every day.

Q: What’s your personal best?
A: Testing for my Budokon belt: performing the kata, sparring, grappling, and punching and kicking through solid wood. Probably one of the hardest things I have done as I had to face many of my fears head on.

Q: What’s your power song?
A: Midnight City by M83

Q: What’s your favorite yoga pose?
A: Handstand, because finding the perfect balance when your world is upside down feels incredible - everything suddenly feels possible.

Q: What’s your next big challenge?
A: Now that I live in California it's got to be surfing, even though I am scared of swimming in the ocean!

Q: What’s your must-have yoga buy?
A: The Chandni Yoga Tank. I now own this in 3 colors! The fit is super flattering, fitted but not overly tight, and the fabric is sweat wicking. Perfect for layering too.

Stacey Brass, Owner & Instructor at Yogamaya Studio, New York City

As owner of New York’s Yogamaya studio and an instructor for over a decade, Sweaty Betty ambassador Stacey Brass is a yogini through and through. Her greatest influence as a teacher is her teacher Rodney Yee and she continues to deepen her knowledge of alignment and the body by studying Iyengar Yoga.  Stacey is known for her creative yet challenging Vinyasa classes and her ability to make everyone feel comfortable where they are.

Q: What’s your power song?
A: Right now I am LOVING “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars when I want to listen to something energizing and upbeat!  I make playlists for my classes and spend a lot of time listening to and buying new music – I can get hooked on a song and want to play it over and over again all week!

Q: What’s your favorite yoga pose?
A: I love doing Headstands.  Putting my head on the ground and my feet in the air takes me completely out of my thinking mind and brings about total calmness.  It’s an incredible feeling.

Q: What’s your next big challenge?
A: Overcoming the fear of doing Handstands completely away from the wall!

Q: What’s your must-have yoga buy?
A: The Carya Harem Pants. These are the softest pants ever! They have a soft flat waistband and are so flattering.
