Meet Aly Teich

Aly is a native New Yorker who grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Following a ten-year career in television and media including the Late Show with David Letterman, CBS Television, Tribeca Film, and Conde Nast Aly switched her focus to health and wellness five years ago when her mother was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. Trading in her Late Show badge for trainers, Aly made it her goal to help people live healthier lives. In 2013, she decided to bring all of her experience to one place, The Sweat Life, a weekly web series and online magazine designed to help you find your healthiest life. 

Three burning questions

Describe your morning routine?
My morning routine always starts with meditation. I then have a tall glass of water with half a lemon, followed by a bulletproof coffee with Vital Protein collagen peptides in it and take my vitamins and supplements (buffered vitamin C, omegas, and a Ginseng extract that helps with focus and energy).

I then do our morning social media post on @sweatlife_nyc (I love posting quotes in the morning), and check my email and schedule for the day. Depending if I am heading straight to a workout or not, I'll either eat a little something to fuel for the workout, or I often do intermittent fasting and don't eat until noon, which is great for brain function and gut health. However, I do, most often have a morning workout, so I throw on my workout clothes, pack my bag for the day, and head out to sweat! 
Your failsafe workout and why?
My failsafe workout is training with my trainer Kira Stokes. Kira focuses on truly functional movement, strength training, and cardio in a way that is truly sustainable. She pushes me to limits I never thought I could reach, but with 20 years of experience, I know our workouts are built to be smart. Working out with Kira has left me stronger than I've ever felt in my life and mostly injury free! I also love that Kira creates an environment where it’s an hour just for me and my body. She tailors our workouts for how I am feeling physically and mentally, and always seems to know what I need. She also pushed me to put my phone down (as I live on it) and really focus on myself. (Workout with Kira and Aly with our exclusive online video here)
