Meet Simone De La Rue

A name in many an A-Lister’s little black book, Simone De La Rue is the ambassador for Sweaty Betty's New York SoHo store and a force to be reckoned with on the US fitness scene. In her previous incarnation as a ballet dancer, Simone performed on Broadway and London’s West End as well as her native Australia, before going on to train Hollywood’s elite and build her fitness empire.

Variety is key to Simone’s workout plans, designed so that the muscles don’t get used to one type of workout and become ‘lazy’, losing definition. Her studio: Body by Simone (BBS) has branches in New York and LA, offering a combination of strengthening, stretch and dance classes for a long, lean physique. A veritable fitness guru, she shares many insider tips and tricks via her Twitter account.

Here, she shares her workout wardrobe during a typical week at BBS …

 Simone wears the Crop Hoody Vest and Pas De Chat Dance Shorts

Day: Monday
Workout: Upper Body Class
In our Upper Body class at BBS, the side plank is one of my favourite moves – and this is my all-time favourite Sweaty Betty outfit, perfect for summer. I love the bright neon orange, plus the lightweight fabric breathes well and the cut of this hoody is very flattering. And the shorts are perfect to mix and match different colours.

Day: Tuesday
Workout: Hips, Thighs and Buns Class
At BBS, one of our signature classes is Hips, Thighs and Buns. It’s an hour of lower body strengthening, focusing on the glutes. I need a really good pair of leggings that don't sag or are not see-through - these new ones are my favourites. The inside tape at the bottom of the legs firmly keeps these tights in place!

Day: Wednesday
Workout: Stretching
Stretching is the most important part of the day and I love wearing hoody to do it in. The wide neck makes it easy to put on and keeps your neck warm. Plus the side pockets make it super cool and casual - I even wear it with my jeans.

Day: Thursday
Workout: Dance Cardio
This new half top with built-in bra keeps everything in place. I love the coral and grey colour, plus the cross at the front makes it super flattering. At the end of every dance cardio class, we finish with 10 minutes of light weights with high repetition. Perfect for sculpting long, lean muscles.
