Diary of a Workout Wardrobe #3: Jen Aloisi

Sweaty Betty’s own US Community Marketing Manager, Jen, puts our SS14 line to the test while working out in New York City and Greenwich, CT.

Day: Monday
Workout: Pilates Reformer
Where: Core Pilates, Greenwich

I love pilates. It is one of the only workouts that you can do at any age and through any injury, and come away feeling aligned and toned. Sadly, I am healing a few injuries at the moment (too much spinning, barre-ing, yoga-ing, running, you-name-it-ing and not enough stretching), so I am having to be mindful about the poses and how I utilise my muscles.

On Monday, I took advantage of having some one-on-one time with Kristen LeClair, owner of Core Pilates Greenwich. We worked the megaformer, ball, and foam roller. Wearing an outfit just as dynamic and structured as my workout, the Chandrasana Yoga Leggings are made of the most comfortable material I’ve ever worn, while still being fitted enough to keep everything in place.

Day: Wednesday
Workout: Barre
Where: Pure Barre, Greenwich

On Wednesday, I met up with Ashley, Owner of Pure Barre Greenwich. Her classes are as tough as she is sweet, which is why I brought my game face. I also wanted to dress the part: where there’s a dance barre, you’ll always find me in legwarmers.

I wore the Adagio Seamless Leggings and Chaturanga Tank to hold me in and allow for flexibility and movement. The leggings have this awesome coloured under-layer so that when you stretch and move, you can see pops of pink emerge through the grey. After class, I turned my look from studio to street by layering the Vitality Long Sleeve Knitted Sweater over my tank top.

Day: Friday
Workout: Slow Flow Yoga
Where: Pure Yoga, NYC

Yoga is my practice of choice and is something I strive to do everyday. If I can’t make it to a studio, I will practice at home on my Sweaty Betty mat (great for my knees) to one of my favorite instructor’s podcasts.

This Friday, I was lucky enough to get into Kay Kay Clivio’s Slow Flow ½ class at Pure Yoga. I love a slower class that makes you focus on breathing and holding the postures. Yoga is especially perfect on a Friday night to unwind from the week and set my intentions for the days ahead.

The Vinyasa Yoga Capris are most definitely my pant of choice for my practice; they are soft, just the right length and give me lots of support. I like to mix tight with loose, so I opted for the slogan Camden Tank with my go-to Shanti Yoga Bra. It's the most comfortable bra I’ve ever worn (I even wear it to bed) and gives my outfits the pop of colour that I love.
