A head for heights

With the second week of our Guildford Road Show in full swing, we took a five minute break from our jam packed fitness schedule to chat to group exercise expert, Ali Bate. We met Ali at her weekly Body Pump class at Cranleigh Golf and Leisure club but soon discovered she also has a head for heights and is currently training to become a certified aerial yoga instructor…
Q: Power song?
A: Adagio for strings (Tiesto)
Q: Personal Best?
A: Building my own house
Q: Favourite yoga pose?
A: Astavakrasana, the eight angle pose (asta = eight, vakra = bent/curved)
Q: Next big challenge?
A: I currently teach anti-gravity restorative yoga at Moonflete Fitness in Surrey. Using a silk hammock it combines traditional yoga poses and principles with elements from aerial arts, dance, gymnastics, Pilates, and calisthenics. My next big challenge is to spread the word and get more people involved in this amazing discipline.
Q: Favourite SB Spring piece?
A: Alala Seamless Jacket, it’s a real statement piece and is super comfortable too
